Dear Colleagues, The Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping (ICSM) Geodesy Working Group (GWG) is seeking expressions of interest for a new Academic Representative to join the Working Group. About the Role The Geodesy Working Group (GWG) is a permanent subcommittee of the Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping (ICSM). The GWG comprises leading experts, advisers, and advocates in geodesy, positioning, and survey measurement from Australian and New Zealand governments (including state, territory, and Commonwealth agencies) as well as universities. The Academic Representative provides expert advice, research insight, and strategic guidance to support the GWG’s coordination of geodetic activities across Australia and New Zealand. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to regional (AU/NZ) geodetic initiatives and strengthen collaboration between academia and government geodesy programs. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must: * Be a current member of an Australian or New Zealand academic institution (e.g., university or research organisation), and * Have a minimum forward tenure of two years at their institution from the date of appointment. Desirable Attributes * Expertise in geodesy, surveying, GNSS, height systems, geodetic infrastructure, or related fields * Experience contributing to national or international geodetic initiatives * Ability to collaborate with government, academic, and industry stakeholders * Strong communication skills, including presenting technical information to diverse audiences Role Expectations The Academic Representative is expected to: * Participate in quarterly virtual GWG meetings (and if possible an annual in‑person meeting) * Provide academic perspectives on GWG projects and priorities * Contribute to technical document development, reviews, and discussions * Advocate for and support ICSM and GWG activities and priorities * Support collaboration between academic research and operational geodesy activities How to Apply Interested applicants are invited to submit: 1. Postdoc in Antarctic satellite geodesy (altimetry/gravimetry)

Dear colleagues [apologies if you receive this several times] Postdoctoral Fellow in Antarctic Satellite Geodesy I am looking for a postdoctoral researcher with significant expertise in satellite geodesy for land ice sheet change (altimetry and/or gravimetry), for a 4-year postdoctoral research position at the University of Tasmania, Australia. This postdoctoral research position will use satellite geodetic datasets to contribute new knowledge of change in the mass and elevation of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet. The position is part of a new prestigious ARC Laureate Fellowship team of about 15 researchers who are being assembled by Prof Matt King to work together on tracking and predicting the future of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet. The successful candidate will bring their expertise in satellite altimetry and/or gravimetry to this problem to help improve understanding of the change and variability of the ice sheet, including through combination of these two measurement types. These will be used to help others develop a new model of Antarctic glacial isostatic adjustment. The appointed postdoc will contribute to building a collegial and collaborative team research environment. Team researchers are well supported by travel and professional development funds. 2026 National Research Infrastructure (NRI) Roadmap Issues Paper and Survey

Dear geodesy colleagues I encourage you all to engage with the below issues paper and survey, as it will help set priorities for future Australian research infrastructure. I imagine that repeated messages help, so please do respond by the deadline. I suggest you express support for any existing infrastructure you find useful (e.g., AuScope, NCI, ...) while also supporting any new investments. But there is also chance to express interest in NEW infrastructure. The survey Q13 asks about new capabilities flagged in the previous submissions (https://www.education.gov.au/national-research-infrastructure/consultations…). Here, the Geoscience Australia submission is of interest to this group, as is Christopher Watson's focusing on sea level change. There may be others. In my submission (https://www.education.gov.au/system/files/2025-10/109_Roadmap%20Survey_%20T…) I noted the need for a national VLM product derived from InSAR as available in New Zealand, Europe and the US. You may wish to refer to that at Q13. The department welcomes candidates from all fields of geosciences. However, applicants with a strong background in the following areas will receive more favorable consideration: (1) Geodesy and ground deformation; (2) Hydrogeology; (3) Exploration of geological resources and carbon sequestration; (4) Geological modeling and related data science. NTU is widely considered to be the most comprehensive and prestigious research university in Taiwan, constantly ranking among the top 100 universities globally (ranked 63rd in the QS World University Rankings 2026). The main campus is located in downtown Taipei City which was recently named one of the World’s Friendliest and Safest Cities for Expats (InterNations 2022). The Department of Geosciences offers a dynamic and supportive working environment with a wide range of faculties, research fields and state-of-the-art research facilities. Start-up funding is available for new faculty members to facilitate their research endeavors from various resources. Outstanding candidates are encouraged to apply for special programs of the National Science and Technology Council and Ministry of Education with extra stipend and grants. Applicants are required to send the following documents: CV, list of publications, statements of teaching and research interests, names and contact information of three referees, and three to five articles published within the recent seven years (one of which need to be designated as representative paper and must be published after August 1st, 2021).
