Presentations are typically ~15-20 minutes, depending on how many people wish to present. Presentations are welcome from people of all institutions (universities, government, private sector) and all levels (undergrad/graduate students, postdocs, researchers, public servants).
This is a low-key, fairly informal meeting where ideas can be discussed, results shown and even partly completed work or new ideas presented.

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to the upcoming *AGU Fall
Meeting 2026*, which will take place *7–11 December 2026 in San Francisco,
California*.
We are convening the session:
*“G014 - Recent Developments on Plate-Fixed Terrestrial Reference Frames:
Determination, Applications, and Challenges”*
(Primary Section: *Geodesy*)
This session aims to provide a focused forum for the geodetic community to
discuss *advances in plate-fixed reference frames*, their connection to *global
frames such as ITRF2020*, and their growing importance and applications for
accurate and stable representation of Earth surface processes.
*Scope and Motivation*
Plate-fixed reference frames play a critical role in enabling the detection
and quantification of *intraplate and plate boundary deformation*, offering
enhanced spatial stability for a wide range of applications. These include:
· Co- and post-seismic deformation analysis
· Glacier and cryosphere monitoring
· Natural and anthropogenic hazard assessment
· Engineering and infrastructure monitoring
· National and regional geodetic reference frame modernization
With increasing attention on *Intra-Frame Deformation Modelling (IFDM)* and
evolving ties to the latest ITRF realizations, this session aims to bring
together diverse expertise to address both *methodological developments and
practical challenges*.
*Topics of Interest*
We especially encourage contributions on:
· Determination and realization of *national and regional
plate-fixed reference frames*
· Integration and consistency with *ITRF2020 and future global
frames*
· *Crustal deformation modelling*, including IFDM approaches
· Applications in geoscience, hazard monitoring, and engineering
· Challenges in accuracy, stability, and long-term sustainability
of reference frames
*Why Contribute?*
This session is intended to serve as a *dedicated platform within AGU* for
advancing discussion on plate-fixed frameworks bridging *theoretical
developments, observational techniques, and real-world applications*. It
will bring together researchers and practitioners from academia, national
agencies, and international geodetic initiatives.
Your contribution would be highly valuable in helping to shape this
evolving area and foster collaboration across the community.
