Job Title Research Fellow
Position Title: Research Fellow - GNSS Positioning and Navigation
Tenure: 2 years fixed-term, full-time (with possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funding) Salary Range: Curtin University Salary Scale, level ALA6 depending on qualifications (ALA6 is currently $101,369 per annum incremented annually + 17% Superannuation - for retirement support or when leaving Australia- with 4 weeks of paid leave per annum, also see below).

Description: Curtin University is offering a Research Fellow position in the area of GNSS Positioning and Navigation.
* As a Research Fellow, you will contribute to the Australian Research Council (ARC) funded research project titled "Next-generation Navigation by Mega-constellations LEO Satellites". * You will work with a team of energetic Geomatics researchers in cutting-edge research related to GNSS and other positioning and navigation sensors. * You will participate in research activities including algorithm development, data collection and processing, analysis of results, publication of papers in peer-reviewed journals, and conference presentations.
To be successful, a PhD in Geodesy/Space or a closely related scientific/engineering field is essential. Practical and theoretical knowledge of precise GNSS satellite-based positioning theory, applications, data processing and analysis is required and experience in positioning using LEO satellites is desirable. You should also have an emerging track record of self-motivated progress in academic research. Your demonstrated expertise in programming in Matlab and one of Python or C++ languages, and technical writing is required.

The position can be filled as soon as possible. Synopsis of the project you will work on: This research project explores and develops innovative positioning methods using signals of opportunity (SOP) and navigation signals from new LEO mega-constellations to address GNSS positioning outages in critical applications. The proposed research will create holistic, computationally efficient positioning methods that consider the unique characteristics and specific errors of LEO opportunistic measurements. It will analyze new LEO satellite signals and develop new stochastic and error models. Additionally, methods for estimating and predicting the non-atomic clocks of LEO satellites will be proposed. The project will also investigate the benefits of LEO signals for GNSS in detecting spoofing and reducing the convergence time of precise point positioning (PPP).
